In 2013, Mr. Howse established National Reference Laboratory’s Anatomic Pathology service, including Cytopathology, which is College of American Pathologists (CAP) accredited. David is also currently managing the commissioning and operation of the Anatomic Pathology Laboratory at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi (CCAD). Consultant Anatomic Pathologist
Dr. Mawad’s pathology experience spans more than 35 years spent in both academic and private practice settings. At Baylor-affiliated hospitals, Dr. Mawad was directly involved in teaching medical students, residents and fellows as well as sharing responsibility for coverage of the renal service and the Electron Microscopy sections. She then pursued a full dedicated fellowship in the same field within the academic setting of the Texas Medical Center, which is unique for its collegial multi-institutional exposure to different pathologies under the respected leadership of Drs. Rapini, Prieto and Diwan. Upon finishing her fellowship, Dr. Mawad was successfully certified for dermatopathology specialty by the American Board of Pathology. Dr. Mawad has remained actively involved in the service work and in the training of dermatopathology fellows at Baylor College of Medicine, while continuing her contribution to the coverage of the surgical and renal pathology sections.
She trained at New York University Medical Center and in 1980 she obtained her certification from the American Board of Pathology During her residency, and in addition to general surgical pathology, Dr. Mawad did a one year mini-fellowship in renal pathology. Among her many elective rotations, she spent several months gaining special experience in dermatopathology with one of her previous mentors, Dr. Bernie Ackerman. Dr. Mawad also did two years residency training in clinical pathology at Baylor College of Medicine and became Board-Certified in the discipline.
